GOVERNANCE
OPEN KNOWLEDGE GREECE IS AN INDEPENDENT NON-PROFIT ORGANISATION, INCORPORATED IN GREECE AND OPERATING GLOBALLY.
One of our goals is securing democracy. We are a Foundation that practices the reinforcement of democracy even in our own organizational structure. Our chairman, Dr. Charalambos Brantsas, is the head of the Foundation. The chairman is supported by the board whose members are co-founders of Open Knowledge Greece.
The chairman, with the support of the Board of Directors, has the primary responsibility for the sound management of the Foundation and the observance of the aims of Open Knowledge International. All of us who are participating in the official Greek chapter have a special responsibility to support and implement actions related to the goals of Open Knowledge International.
The Foundation’s activities are largely implemented by volunteers who support our goals. Our volunteers are from different walks of life, such as the academic community, the business community, local government, and the public sector.
According to our organizational procedures, a responsible person is appointed to supervise each activity or funded project. It is worth noting that all participants have practical experience from some activity, which is of particularly importance as everybody is given opportunities to support the Foundation’s activities in different capacities.
Decisions are always taken after discussions, employing modern digital tools to enhance the participatory processes.
